Antennas for digital FPV goggles and air units
Digital FPV systems such as DJI, Walksnail Avatar, HDZero and Caddx send video on 5.8 GHz, just like analog ones. Stock goggle and air unit antennas are usually simple designs, and a better antenna gives a steadier picture and more range. This category holds ready-made goggle sets and single antennas that work well with digital systems. Every unit is measured on a vector network analyzer (VNA), and antennas in a set are tuned to match each other.
What to choose
- For the goggles: sets of omni and directional antennas matched to specific goggles, e.g. HD_P, HD_O and HD_L for DJI, MiCross_S2 for Walksnail Avatar, or the Xtreem Cross goggles set. The directional MiCross and XS Crossair add range in the direction you fly, while the Omni_S and Pagoda omnis hold the picture when the drone is close.
- On the drone: a Pagoda Long 160 mm or Super Long, or the shorter Stub, which fits small frames easily.
- For long range: the cross_digi LR and Micross_digi sets with directional antennas.
You can also browse these antennas by type: Pagoda or Cross-air and MiCross.
There are also Pagodas for 5.2 and 5.5 GHz, for systems working outside the standard 5.8 GHz band. If your system uses non-standard channels, get in touch and we'll make the antenna to order.
Polarization and connector
Use the same polarization on the drone and the goggles, RHCP or LHCP. You pick the connector at checkout. If you're not sure which port your gear has, see SMA vs RP-SMA, male vs female. For air units with MMCX or U.FL ports there are pigtails and adapters.
FAQ
Does digital FPV need special antennas?
No. Digital and analog systems share the same band, so a good 5.8 GHz antenna works with both. The differences are mostly in the number of antennas and the connectors. More in why digital and analog systems don't need different antennas.
How many antennas do my goggles need?
As many as they have antenna ports. The sets in this category are put together for specific models, so they include the right number of antennas.
Where are the other 5.8 GHz antennas?
The full range, including helicals, cloverleafs and diversity sets, is in 5.8 GHz Antennas.
